Katie Swan's Remarkable Comeback Continues
Katie Swan has continued her outstanding comeback season, building on a run of title-winning form with an emotional return to Wimbledon.
The 27-year-old enjoyed an excellent swing in Japan earlier this season, claiming back-to-back ITF singles titles at the W35 Fukuoka and W75 Kurume. In Kurume, Katie defeated Japan's Kyoka Okamura 7-5, 6-1 to lift her biggest singles trophy since 2022, extending her winning streak and continuing her impressive rise back up the WTA rankings.
Katie carried that momentum onto the grass, reaching the quarter-finals at the Lexus Ilkley Open before receiving a Wimbledon main draw wildcard. Competing at The Championships for the first time in three years following a long-term injury, she defeated Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round. Describing the victory as "pure relief", Katie reflected on the challenges of her injury lay-off and the journey back to competing on one of tennis' biggest stages.
Her resurgence has been one of British tennis' standout stories this season. Having been unranked at the start of last year following injury, Katie has rebuilt her ranking through determination, consistency and outstanding performances on the ITF Tour before returning to compete on the Grand Slam stage.
Everyone at Tennis First is incredibly proud to see Katie enjoying such a successful return.
