Wins from around the world
Jack Pinnignton Jones claimed his second ATP Challenger title of the year in Winston Salem. Jack was in top form this week and didn’t drop a set all tournament. He clinched the title with a 6-2 6-2 victory over Trevor Svajda. Jack edges closer to a career high and we wish him well on his upcoming tournaments in Vegas.
Katie Swan has been on a roll in Australia with a 9 match winning streak. Katie picked up the title in the W35 event, defeating number one seed Lizette Cabrera 6-4 7-6(8) in the seemi-finals. In the final, Katie had a convincing 6-1 6-2 win over Australia’s Taylah Preston. The following week she reached a second final without dropping a set, however Taylah Preston got the win that time with a 6-4 7-6 (5) win. It has been fantastic to watch Katie’s comeback to the match court and most importantly enjoying her time on court injury free. Great job to Katie and her team!
Jay Clarke has been battling hard during back to back weeks in Romania on the clay. In the first event Jay reached the semi-finals losing out to Croatia’s Mili Poljicak 6-3 7-5. Bouncing back he went a step further in the second week, this time making it all the way to the finals. En route Jay didn’t drop a set but lost out to Italian Franco Agamenone 6-3 6-4.
Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden teamed up for a win in Portugal. The duo of former grantees worked well together on court and won the final in convincing style 6-0 6-3. Brilliant teamwork!
