Samuel and Wendelken Break into World’s Top 250

Former Tennis First grantees Toby Samuel and Harry Wendelken are continuing to make impressive strides on the professional tour, with both players now breaking into the ATP world’s top 250.

The milestone marks a significant step forward for the two players, who have been in excellent form on the ITF and ATP Challenger circuits in recent weeks.

Toby Samuel has enjoyed a particularly strong run, capturing 3 back-to-back titles to surge up the ATP rankings. The 23-year-old first lifted the title in Vale do Lobo, Portugal, before continuing his winning momentum at the ATP Challengers in Hersonissos, Greece.

Toby’s dominant run in Greece saw him extend his winning streak and secure his fourth Challenger title of his professional career so far. In an all-British final, he defeated Harry Wendelken in straight sets to claim his third Challenger crown. The very next week he powered through to the final with straight set wins to lift the trophy once again.

The victories underline Toby’s rapid progress as he continues to transition from success on the ITF circuit to becoming a regular challenger at the next level of the professional game. He reaches a career high of No.171, well deserved after his brilliant run.

Harry Wendelken has also been enjoying a strong period on the tour. His run to the Challenger final in Greece capped a series of consistent performances across recent events and helped him reach a career milestone by hitting No.250 on the rankings list.

The 24-year-old has been steadily building momentum through deep runs on the ITF circuit and increasingly competitive performances at Challenger level.

For Tennis First, seeing two former grantees reach the top 250 is a proud moment. With both players building momentum and gaining confidence on the international stage, their recent success suggests there could be even more to come as they continue their climb up the professional ranks and we’re here for it!
