Grantees Win National Titles

The 16U National Tennis Championships were held at the National Tennis Centre this weekend in Roehampton. Tennis First Alumni Jack Draper and Harriet Dart are among the impressive list of former champions and now Hannah Klugman and Ben Gusic Wan can add this to their list of accolades too.

Hannah Klugman, still only 14 years old, didn’t lose more than 3 games in a set en route to the final where she beat Middlesex's Mika Stojsavljevic 6-4, 6-0 in the final. A stunning and confident display of tennis all week led Hannah to the title, a great achievement too for her team at Reeds School where she is coached by Ben Harran and works on her physical training with former grantee Laura Deigman.

"I played a really solid match, stepped up when I needed to and mentally I was really ready for this final.” Hannah told the LTA in a post match interview.

Hannah then teamed up with Hephzibah Oluwadare to claim the doubles title with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the final against Brooke Black and Ciara Moore.

Ben Gusic Wan was crowned National Champion after battling through a three set encounter against Oliver Bonding in the final, 7-6(2), 6-7(2), 6-3 at the National Tennis Centre. Ben also came through three sets against Zechariah Hamrouni 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 in the semi finals showing copious amounts of determination to come through tough matches and making the important point count under pressure.

A huge well done to everyone who participated throughout the tournament and we look forward to a successful summer ahead for the Brits.
