GB Win Winter Cup

Great Britain won the boys’ 14&U Winter Cups by Dunlop title for the first time in over a decade in this age category.

Day 1 saw grantees Mark Ceban and Rhys Lawlor in singles action against France. Mark continued his impressive form by winning against Daniel Jade for a second time this year, 6-4 7-5. Rhys comfortably won 6-0 6-2 against Jules Nicolas Rimbaud. In doubles, Rhys teamed up with Pavana Nrshinga to claim a straight sets victory against the French pairing. The British team advanced to the next round to face Turkey.

On the second day, Mark fought hard to come back against Kaan Isik Kosaner and win a third set tie break 5-7 6-1 7-6(3) in a tough battle. Rhys secured a win against Samim Filiz 7-6(4) 6-1 to seal victory for Great Britain in a fantastic display of tennis.

In the final against Poland Rhys proved too strong for his opponent with a 6-3 6-2 victory in just over an hour over Jan Skrzynski. Mark sealed the title with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Jan Urbanski.

A huge congratulations to the players, all of the British support team and captain Chris Wilkinson, an incredible effort by everyone.
